1.
TO DEEPEST WARMTH: Will the whispers ever cease? Will my heart turn my head around? Will time change my perspective? Will my perspective change me? From stormy seas, To a sheltered bay. From death back into life again. From blind to having sight again. From icy cold, To the deepest warmth The kind that comes from inside, The kind that ignites the fire again. As the days drop like flies, Will I find my way? Open my eyes up And see the light Of sweet firelight, And feel the heat?
2.
Never Forget 03:30
NEVER FORGET: Rest your hands in mine. They do not labor When they are intertwined. Your mind is trapped In a fever dream, Focus on my voice And find me inside. I will sit and I will wait with you, Because I know that you can feel me. I will speak into your ears, Because I know that you can hear me. How I love you, How I'll miss you. Father, brother, friend and hero. I'll never forget you, I'll never forget.
3.
FEVER DREAM 1 - BLACK HOLE: I turn around, I see the starting line. I'm spiralling out and away. I've lost my chance to run. Fire dwindles to a speck Now I'm falling blind. Other side of black holes, Absence, nothing, no one. Twisting, turning, yearning, To be or not to be? Upward movement failing, Downward spiral flailing, Endless whispers calling, To go or not to go? Fear comes to say hi, To tell lies to paralyse. Heat left so far behind, Now I'm loosing mine.
4.
FEVER DREAM 2 - DESCENT: I descend into the deep, Way down low into the cold. Gaining lower and lower depths. Once I stood up tall But now I fall. I see the light far above me, The one that once shone inside me. I continue my drop, The currents taken hold So still I fall. Endless whispers surround, Forming circles around. I am ageing differently inside Their circle of sound. I am small, I am nothing here. A microscopic speck in a massive hole. I descend deeper and deeper still, Nothing worthwhile down here Have I found. Other side of a black hole, Absence, nothing and no one. Spiralling out and away, Lost.
5.
FEVER DREAM 3 - LOST HERE: Free me, free me! When will you appear? I'm lost here, lost here! Neither here nor there. Find me, find me! You are nowhere near. I'm lost here, lost here, How are you not here? Lost here, cold and alone here. Other side of a black hole no control. Free me, when will you free me? Powerless against The absence of light here. I cannot wake! I cannot speak! Lost in a dream trapped in my head. Losing the fight, slipping away. (Worlds collide, names are called, fears are realised, hopes denied) Other side of black holes, Absence, nothing, no one. Twisting, turning, yearning, To be or not to be? Upward movement failing, Downward spiral flailing, Endless whispers calling, To go or not to go?
6.
Within A Day 05:36
WITHIN A DAY: You sleep another day away. I heard you were well yesterday. Another chance lost, There will not be many more. I feel the coming of your time, Every minute’s worth a year now. I slept awhile and woke to find Your eyes open wide. And when I looked inside, I saw your last goodbye arrive. I do not tell a lie, Within a day he will die!
7.
Midnight 05:02
MIDNIGHT: Time is running out So its value has increased. Every moment is precious now, It has come down to the wire. Don't go, don't go, don't go! Twilight has fallen, Midnight is soon to follow. If ever there was a time to go Above and beyond, It would be now. Don't go, don't go, don't go! The river is running high, It's never been so swift. It's racing towards the cliff, Cascading over the abyss. It's midnight! Midnight's here, It has come to take you away.
8.
INWARD SPIRAL/HEADING HOME: Heading home. Heading home, it's over. Feeling alone, feeling alone. Heavy as stone. Heavy as stone, suddenly older. Sick to my bone, sick to my bone. Feel it in my chest, Feel it as waves pushing me sideways. Smothering my will, Smothers my will And leaves me breathless. Heading home.
9.
Final Winter 04:22
FINAL WINTER: How my heart yearns, How it burns For things that can never be. Father Time has erased my steps, Now no one will ever see. As a ghost I have no voice, I cannot say goodbye. Final winter stole my breath, Now no one will ever hear. Drifting over my timeline, I see it twist and turn. If I had only gone straight ahead, You would still be mine. Set fire now to my shell, For it is no longer where I dwell. Mother Nature cast me out, Now you must go on alone. But I live on in your memory, You see me everywhere. In the little things that we shared, Think of me and smile. Into the light, shining bright, Taking flight, feather light, Losing sight of the earth below. Into the glow I will go, From hanging on to letting go. See you on the other side.
10.
Urn Shadow 14:32
URN SHADOW: I sink below into shadow. I try to find the glow. I try, I try, I fail. Empty, hollow, bone dry, fallow. Worlds collide, Names are called, Fears are realised, Hopes denied.

about

Review of 'Memory Sphere Never Forget Part I and Part II'

'Never Forget Part I' is the debut album release from Memory Sphere by singer/songwriter Ben Stout. Undoubtedly a dark and somewhat esoteric concept album, 'Never Forget' has an innate inner beauty and sensitivity that breathes light into the darker depths and passages of the song cycle. The album is centred on the experience of personal loss and tragedy, and how the composer grapples with his sense of loss. 'Never Forget' is a musical and lyrical journey undertaken by the composer to make sense of his feelings and experience of grief, and questions the more intangible aspects of living and dying.

The passages contained in the opening song 'To Deepest Warmth' provide an indication of the nature and direction of the album’s themes and concepts. For example, the lyrics ask the questions “Will the whispers ever cease?”, “Will my heart turn my head around?”, “Will time change my perspective?”, “Will my perspective change me?", "Will I find my way?” It is these kinds of emotive themes and issues that 'Never Forget' embraces and documents with fervour and passion.

The scope and absolute beauty and intensity of the album’s music reflects this passion. The music is mesmerising, and at times reaches intensities that are as fever pitched as they are beautiful. It draws you further in, lifting you ever higher and higher through a layered soundscape of musical and vocal orchestrations so skillfully conceived and articulated by a skilled composer in full mastery of his craft. The sole instrumental track 'Healing Waters' (on Part II ) is an attestation of the composer’s ability as a maker of magical musical sounds!

Part II finds its resolution in the final track 'Drift in Peace', a lovely warm and hypnotising mantra that takes you on a final journey of drifting in a state of peace, tranquility and reconciliation, and as the lyrics suggest “Drift in Peace”. The lyrics are woven beautifully into the sound canvas to produce a volume of work that is truly epic. 'Never Forget' is much more than merely a concept album. It is a magical musical experience created by a composer with the artistry and maturity to take you on a journey of the senses that is truly remarkable, and to use a pun, take you on a journey you will never forget!
